Soča from Source to Sea - Paddling Guide Guidebook
This guidebook covers the entire course of the Soča River, from her source deep in the Julian Alps to her outlet in the Adriatic Sea’s Gulf of Trieste. The entire 138 kilometres are divided into one hiking and 14 paddling stages, most of which take only half a day to experience, meaning you can devote the other half to getting to know the attractions along the river—because river paddling is much more than just connecting strokes. Thus, you can make friends with the limpid daughter of the mountains in one season, or you can also take on the adventure in one fell swoop and walk and paddle from the source to the sea in six days.
Eight stages are suitable for beginners, people paddling canoes, packrafts, and SUPs; two are for intermediates; and four stages are reserved for seasoned whitewater kayakers. However, even those accustomed to short adrenaline-filled stretches of whitewater will enjoy getting to know new parts of the river, and all paddlers will enjoy discovering new places, people, landscapes, and even themselves.
The Soča is a diva. Most people already know her in all her make-up-adorned glory. You are invited to get to know her in areas that are hidden from view and less known. As a whole, she is even more extraordinary, but she has many scars that make her main attributes even more special.
Extras: Includes 100 cm long folding map of the Soča’s most difficult and famed whitewater stretch, the Katarakt.
